FAQs

Can I buy the ready-to-wear hats? What about the fit?

Yes you can buy the hats in the ready-to-wear area. I have provided measurements and you can measure your head size to check fit. Look at the information about each hat and ask if you need to know more. I will provide some soft padding for hats with crowns and brims to help with fit.

How can I pay for a hat?

Payment can be made via bank transfer, cheque, cash or PayPal - I will provide an email link. When you contact me about a hat, we can agree payment at that point.

How do I measure my head to know my size?

Use a tape measure and follow a line across your forehead, above your ears and to the back of your head, then round back to your forehead. An average head size is 22.5 inches. Hat sizes are traditionally set in inches.

Do I have to come to see you to get a hat made?

Where possible, but I can do it all by email and with you sending photographs of an outfit.

What does it cost to get a hat designed?

I will design your hat free of charge. You do not have to commit at this point.

How does the initial process work?

I like to see your outfit and discuss ideas and sketch out ideas based on what you want. I will also cost the hat at this point. If you decide to go ahead, then I ask for a deposit of about £30 to cover initial costs.

How much will a hat cost?

The costs do vary depending on the size of the hat, time taken to make the hat and the cost of trimming. Large wedding hats start at around £140 allowing for the design process and 3 possible visits and emails.

How long will it take to make a hat?

Again, this depends on the size of the hat and the amount of work. Giving me some flexibility does help, say 2 months, so I can organise my time.
